What is one thing that there are no words for?

Posted on Feb 20th, 2009 by Carolyn : Mystic Empath Carolyn
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for February 20, 2009:

LOVE. In the Greek language, there are different words to express the different kinds of love, but the English language is very inadequate in that respect. We say we love our family, possessions, and circumstances, all using the same word. Yet, we know that it does not adequately describe what we are truly feeling.

Let’s create new words for loving, adoring, respecting, admiring, fancying, and worshiping one another and our world!

I did a whole blog - Love & Language - on the Greek words for love difference a while back - it’s an endlessly fascinating topic to me…

Hey Jessica, know what they say about great minds… Thanks for stopping by!

Hey Tsuya, thanks for stopping by. Your post was rockin! Thanks for the link.

I finally stopped trying to come up with a word for the “friend” so I just call him by name: “This is Robert, William, Charles, Trevor, Whatever.” Let the other put their own adjective to it. I cannot be bothered anymore.

Be blessed,
C.

Love is such a rich emotion and feeling, why limit it into a word! Wonderful response, Carolyn!

Glad you liked the post ( I followed Jessica here!)

I love ‘Let the other put their own adjective to it. I cannot be bothered anymore.’  Yes indeed!  Who knows, maybe they’ll come up with something great… so he’s your ‘shining-star-up-in-the-night-sky-who-you-couldn’t-always-see-but-who-was-always-secretly-guiding-your-footsteps-toward-the-hallowed-space-where-you-could-both-meet, eh?’  …’Nope, he’s just my poptart.’  It could be fun!

Sometimes when I’m tetchy I’ll introduce a friend (any friend) in those words they send out on wedding invitations… ‘this is And Guest.’

*chuckling* “And Guest, would you care for a drink?” “Nice to meet you And Guest” “Andy Gest” (okay, it’s late)

@Tsuya: Uh-huh< exactly! Love the “poptart” LOL!

@ Jess: We do manage to come up with something when the time is right, don’t we?

Thanks Ladies, for the LOL conversation. LOVE is fun!

Be blessed,
C.
