Never much of a pet person, though I like cats. They are aloof, independent and standoffish at times, like me!

The animals that have made the biggest impact on my life are penguins and butterflies ~ penguins taught me persistence and diligence and butterflies represent transcendence.

Where is your name from?

Since my birth name is pretty uneventful ~ my mother looked in a name book; my Gaia name: Mystic Empath is much more me!

From the time I was a small child, I had always had a "gift." I have come to know it as a gift from God. I could sense feelings and feel those feelings in my own body. There are more elements to this gift, but that is the gist. Being an HSP (highly sensitive person) also lends its own flavor to the mix. It does keep life interesting! I can NEVER say that I am bored!

How does your mind relate to your body?

Basically, the mind is comprised of two parts: the conscious mind or the thinking mind and the subconscious mind or the feeling mind. We are about 90% subconscious mind and 10% conscious mind. So the subconscious mind steers the ship. The body is the ship. The subconscious mind then translates the feelings to the body, which acts upon the feelings creating the results we see in our lives. Our bodies, like a ship, simply does what it is told. The trick is to retrain the part that is steering the ship!

1) What was the name of your childhood pet?
Did not have a pet, my mother feared them!

2) What was your favorite toy(s) during childhood?
Didn't have too many toys as a child. Have two small dolls which I loved and lost. After that, my childhood was over.

3) Did you grow up with brothers and sisters?
I had a sister when I was seven. Because of the age gap, we were never close.

4) What game(s) did you like to play?
I liked any solitary games, still do. When cousins were around, we played hide and go seek.

5) Did you have an imaginary friend?
Lots of them!

I am ever mindful of all the people, places and things in my life that provide me the comfort and convenience on a daily basis. One of my daily practices is to journal my daily gratitudes. All of these seemingly mundane things always find their way on that list. I am so happy and grateful that I am mindful of all that enters and leaves my path. And so it is.

Absolutely nothing is terrible about fear, when we allow fear to do its business. Fear is an emotion of alert and caution. It protects us. When we allow a spirit of fear to rule our lives, then it gets dangerous.

Friday Fives of Superstition

Bob Proctor talks about superstition as keeping us from moving forward. They are tied up in most of our limiting belief systems. I have found this to be very true.

1) Do you have a lucky charm? (socks, coins, small rubber chickens?) No

2) Have you ever found a four-leaf clover? (and what happened?) No

3) Do you throw coins into fountains for wishes? When I was in Rome, I did throw a coin and make a wish at the Trevi Fountain along with the hundreds of other visitors. More fun than belief!

4) Do you have any quirky or unique superstitions? My superstitions have become spiritual practices to use for my well-being and growth, like not leaving the house without a prayer or blessing.

5) Have you ever seen a shooting star? (did you make a wish?) I have seen a shotting star; don't remember if I made a wish.

Amazingly, my life is so very different from what I had imagined it to be a year ago. Yet, looking back, this is how it has always been. Life is about taking us on an exciting adventure, a journey to places and spaces we have never been before. Taking us to these places to grow us, stretch us, and guide us into creating more adventures. And I know that next year will continue that journey.

If you count email cards, all the time! Interestingly, I haven't send a snail mail card since the death of my beloved. I would send lots of cards and sign both our first names. Email takes the sting out of signing my own name only.
